    Description

Early 1930’s Antique M.B. & Co. Homelectrics 2-30/1702 Waffle Iron/Maker Art Deco Style. This item is in “used” condition. Please see photos for additional details as they are an important part of the item description.
Manning Bowman Co. was founded in 1849 as one of the first housewares companies in the U.S.. This Cromwell, Conn. company under the leadership of Thomas Manning and son, Thadeus took on a partner Robert Bowman. In the mid 20s. Manning Bowman was one of the first to offer chrome-plated appliances, which were advertised as having a non-tarnish "Aranium" finish. In 1928 the firm introduced an economy line of appliances labeled "HOMELECTRICS" Their ads read that the price was being kept down to a moderate figure by the omission of manufacturing refinements which while enhance the appearance of the appliance do not add to the everyday utility. This piece is very lovely and of the term pedestal-type waffle iron. From the early 1930’s- (the piece I referenced was 1932 & had a higher serial #) This piece is serial no 2-30, Article#1702. It’s a 250Volt and a 660Watt power cord.
The widest diameter is approximately 11-1/2” including handles. The overall height is approximately 5-1/8”. This offering makes 1- 7inch waffle divided into four sections. This model has wood handles(good condition) not Bakelite. The temp is on the lid and reads bake not sure of the accuracy as we only had on for a short period to test the heating elements (see last picture) The glass cover is intact. This is a fantastic example of Art Deco & will look fantastic in your collection!!!
Condition: Both the handles and the 5 feet are in great condition with no cracks or breaks. I also see some minor, spotty surface rust on the back near the hinge and also near the handle front. The original power cord does work and I’m not seeing any visible damage. We did plug it in (with no issues) to check if the heating elements were working for an accurate description. I did include a picture of the temp sensor to show that it’s working.
