This listing is for a lovely early 19th Century English Sterling Silver miniature or toy Chocolate Pot, c. 1890. This wonderful little pot has a nice wooden handle and finial. The piece is in excellent Estate condition showing only minimal signs of normal use and age. Marked on the lower bottom with English hallmarks for London, Sterling and date letter for 1889.
Measures 3 1/4" high with a base diameter of 2 3/4". Weighs 71 grams.
Silver "toys" like this were made as fashionable trinkets for adults or toys for children of wealthy parents and copied the exact details and proportions of normal sized pieces. They were made in a variety of subjects and sizes ranging from domestic items to furniture. Very few are hallmarked with complete stamps as this one is.
